Entry #6: Why everyone loves Converse

Image
Converse has been around for many years and is still popular to this day. Whether wearing them at school, when hanging out with friends or at concerts, Converse always fits in. There’s a reason why they are so po pular and why many people keep on choosing them, and that’s because they both have style and comfort. I remember when I bought my first pair of Chuck Taylors when I was about to start my first year of high school, and I’m still wearing them to this day!   Image Source One reason why Converse stands out is because of their many color options. The colors include black, white, red, blue, gray, yellow, orange, and basically any color you can think of. Converse also has a customizing option where you can design your own shoes! Because of these amazing color options, you can easily find pairs that match your outfits. I have the classic black and white Chuck Taylors which go well with any outfit I wear. Entry #5: Analyzing Allstate's "Baseball dad" ad

Image
Allstate advertisements are known for their character "Mayhem" and being memorable. The one that I’ve watched was the baseball dad ad. It was very entertaining and fun to watch! The context of this ad is Mayhem, who plays an overexcited dad, causes an unpredictable accident when he tries to coach his son by swinging the baseball bat but ends up throwing it and causing an accident .   The design of the ad takes place on a sunny day at a kids' baseball field. There are parents sitting at the bleachers watching their kids play baseball, and this guy named “Mayhem” is one of them. He wants his kid to win, so he puts pressure on him by grabbing the microphone from the announcer and saying “No pressure kid. Just everyone watching.” He then tries to show him to “swivel those hips” by swinging the baseball bat but ends up losing his grip, and the bat starts flying and hits the front windshield of a woman’s car while she was reversing into the parking lot. The woman gets scared f...

Entry #4: Why Quizlet is the best studying app

Image
Have you ever had a hard time studying and memorizing stuff for your classes? I have too until I started using Quizlet. Quizlet is a online study tool and app that helps students of all ages learn and review class materials through flashcards, quizzes and other games. I first started using it during my sophomore year in high school in my medical science class when my teacher had us use it for group review . Ever since, I started using it for all of my classes and maintained a good GPA because of it.   Studying can be very boring, so this app is a great and fun way to be productive while studying. According to Scholarly , "Quizlet helps students retain and recall information more effectively." They do this through the many study options they offer. Image Source   For example, you can use flashcards to memorize your answers. You can read the question on one side of the flashcard and flip to see the answer on the other side. By repeating this, it has helped me to remem...

Entry #3: What we use in our everyday life

Image
H ave you ever seen a post on social media, stopped and tried to figure out what it’s trying to tell you? This is what visual rhetoric is. Every day we use visual rhetoric without realizing it. I engage with visual media on my phone, through social media such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and I’m pretty sure you do too. I have never really thought about visual rhetoric before. I’ve learned about it in high school and done some essays about it like rhetorical appeals like pathos, ethos, and logos but haven’t really paid attention to it in real life. Image Source Visual rhetoric is what authors and people use to persuade their audience or to make them feel some way and they communicate with them through visuals and writings. We see and use visual rhetoric in our everyday lives without even realizing it. According to Roger Williams University , “ You might not have thought about it before, but something as simple as a stop sign is an example of  visual rhetoric . The vis...
